Old Age & Death [part-1]

Have you really thought about death? The NO MORE scenario of yourself. Soon you’ll start loosing your what ever looks you have. You might try to improve yourself, provided that you have lots of money, but you will still degrade. It’s unstoppable, irreversible. One day you’ll look at yourself in the mirror and find out that you look terrible. Forget about the looks. Just think about your physical condition. The saddest thing is that it would be the same mind trapped inside the old body. Or is it? Does our mind get old too? I haven’t seen old people complaining about being old except for the people who keep them. Maybe they get used to it and accept the way it is. Recently I was thinking about the things that I should be doing when I’m 60. Guess what I couldn’t’ think of anything and it wasn’t a good experience. Here I’m at the age of 29, almost spent more than half of my good life, not knowing what to do when I’m really old. Any ideas?

Warren Buffett

Think about a person without a cell phone or a computer, can he be the richest person in this world? Well Warren Buffett proved that he could. He still lives in his three bedroom house bought 50 years ago which he claims to have everything he needs, drives his car himself to office and travels in commercial planes (he owns the largest Air Line company). He firmly believes that people should not spend money for unnecessary things. At the age of 6, he bought 6 coca cola packs from his grandma’s shop for 25 cents and resold them for nickel to gain 5 cents profit. Five years later he invested some money in stock market which taught him his first lesson of investments. Since then, his voyage to become the richest man on earth was unstoppable.Recently he gifted 31 billion to charity, biggest gift ever to be given. The most beautiful thing about this man is not his simplicity but his generousness. He has planned to give away 85% of his wealth for those who need it more through Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Its not his money that made me write this article, its his beautiful heart. There are angels among us, he's one of them. Some interesting facts about Warren Buffet.

I felt very proud of becoming part of that culture. It’s a wedding full of flowers, glittering traditional dresses, and unique ceremonies. The Sri Lankan wedding is so beautiful!, oh ,by the way its my wifes sisters wedding.

Outlandish, Look Into My Eyes

Listen to this song its beautiful.Closer Than Veins is Outlandish's third album. The first single was "Look Into My Eyes". The song's lyrics are based on a poem by Gihad Ali, a Palestinian who wrote the piece when she was a teenager; the poem expresses the plight of those suffering from America’s foreign policy with regards to Israel and Palestine. The video is based around the fairy-tale Little Red Riding Hood. It portrays an Israeli soldier as the Wolf and the Palestinian girl, wearing a Kaffiyeh, as Little Red Riding Hood.

Holy Books & Blind Faith [A Zen Story]

All over the world, people are struggling to adopt family planning, and some religions object to it. They say that children are a gift of god and if god gives, we must accept. Why is it necessary to drag religion into this family planning problem? Religion has nothing to do with this social activity. If we depend on our holy books for everything without using our commonsense, we may get into trouble. Let me tell you a story to illustrate this.
There was a religious teacher who had a few thousand followers. He was very strict and insisted that his word was law. He had written down all the instructions in his holy book and he warned his followers not to do anything without referring to his holy book. One day when this guru and the followers were crossing a narrow bridge, the guru slipped and fell down into the river. The followers remembered the instructions and wanted to read the holy book to determine what he had decreed and what to do when the guru fell into the river. The guru was shouting for help, but the followers said, "Wait, wait, we want to see what you have written in our holy book about a situation like this." Of course the guru drowned, before they found the instruction.

Monk and the Wooden Statue [A Zen story]

I heard this Zen story in a TV show, gives a deep message about the teachings of Buddha. The original version may differ from what I write. Just try to understand the message it conveys, why did the monk do such a thing at the end? you have to think beyond the conventional thinking.

There was this monk who had so much respect towards Lord Buddha. The monk was determined to attain enlightenment (realized the truth). He used to sit in front of a wooden Buddha statue in the temple and meditate. So many months passed, but he kept on meditating. He didn't reduce his effort for even a moment. Finally he attained enlightenment, it was the winter, and everything was so cold. So he chopped the statue in to pieces and made a fire.
