Once I went to the library craving for a book to read, I was inspired by science fictions at that time (even now), mostly reading Arthur C Clerk & Isaac Asimov, The best modern science fiction writers in the world. The library was full of old English books, felt like I was in a museum, I can still remember the smell of old rugged and torn books, I loved it ,then I came across this book .The cover said it was a science fiction, so I took it home and started reading. After reading few chapters I was bit disappointed, the author has taken great effort on explaining about things like nuclear submarines, electricity & light bulbs, which was no big thing at that time. ‘What’s wrong with this guy’ I thought, before moving in to another book, I quickly scanned through the first pages to find out the date of the first publication, it was 1870,and i was astonished. The book was Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea by Jules Verne. Apart from the accurate description of technical details of a nuclear submarine, he explains how crew can work and survive under that immense pressure. After reading the book hastily I was left with a greater mystery, how he come to know of these things clearly ahead of his time? [Predictions of Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea]

Some times when group of people gather they share funny stories, specially in parties. This is one of the best I heard, that guy repeats this in almost every party & we still enjoy it, best told in my native language Sinhala, so I have a Sinhala translation below for those who can read. If you see some squares, don’t worry, it means you don’t have Sinhala Unicode font.
One day a devoted Buddhist layman who used to visit the temple frequently for dharma talks found that the head monk had gone out for a sermon, so he decided to have a bath in the head monk’s bath room. While he was taking the bath, head monk returned and entered the bath room, unaware of his presence. He was naked, so he quickly grabbed a plastic washbasin which was nearby & covered his private parts. Both were speech less and unable to utter a word. The devote ,thinking of breaking the silence, ’I came here to ask the meaning of a difficult Pali word’ .Since Buddhism is written in a language called Pali, this often happens. ‘What is it my friend?’ the monk asked, ‘what is the meaning of Parachiththa Vijanana Gnanaya?’ The monk thought for a moment & said ‘It’s the ability to read others minds, for an example my friend, you think the base of that washbasin is intact, but its not’.

These days we don't have much work, to be honest any work at all, students were sent to hotels to do their attachments and we have like one month until they come. Don't think its fun, for me it’s more tiresome than a normal working day, just sitting on your ass for 8 hours a day, not that easy pal. I have started reading a book to kill time, its unabridged version of Gulliver's Travels, I read it when i was very young and hoped this time it would be boring. I was wrong, I was absorbed in to the fantasy world created by Jonathan Swift(1667-1745), I traveled the sea to end up shipwrecked in the city of Lilliputs ,who are only about six inches high, They first captured me and treated me like a prisoner. But eventually I was granted freedom (I had to swear an oath holding right foot form my left hand and placing middle finger of my right hand on the crown of my head, and my thumb on the tip of my right ear) .Later I was favored by the king , specially when I captured fleet of ships which belong to their mortal enemies in the kingdom of Blefuscu, which supports those exiles who break eggs from the smaller end (This is one of the main reason for their disputes).Eventually I was compelled to escape the kingdom of Lilliputs when the King was mislead by some jealous ministers to blind me for treason and using my urine to extinguish a fire erupted in the palace . Currently I’m captured by giants in Brobdingsnag, they can carry me in their pockets. This has given me a chance to see the world in Lilliputs perspective.A strange thing happened today. I was reading the book in the front office and a guy was fixing the tube lights above me. Normally when I read I get so absorbed, I don’t even hear people talk to me, but I heard something falling down behind me, I looked and found It was a tube light kept on the table. Then I turned back and started reading again, but I was bit uneasy, I looked up and the guy fixing the bulbs smiled at me. Some thing in my head told me to go & sit some where, I complied, two minutes later the guy slipped one tube light and it directly crashed on top of the chair I was sitting before, shredding it in to pieces. I was lucky, is this co-incident? I felt something bad going to happen minutes before, does mind can foresee the future, its called déjà vu right? Did this kind of thing happened to you before?

This chines girl aged 16 says “Thirty percent of the money will be used for a migrant workers,Sixty percent will be donated to a happy education program held by a Red Cross in Hunan Province and I’ll use the remainder for plastic surgery.”,but some bloggers blame her for using this just to make her famous. She has posted a picture revealing her breasts, seems to be big,she claims she has the biggest breasts in china, don't know if its true.It could be bit inappropriate, but she's doing it for good cause, actually she's selling the fat inside her breasts. This is the girls picture, feels like bidding? go to Xu's web site(click here).I loved the song which plays when i entered the website, listened it to more than 20 times, wonder who's singing that lovely song, any idea? music is universal after all.

This is a good example of how miracles were added to some religions, if this happened in medieval times,it would have been written on a religious book as a miracle of their religion , depends on who sees it and which religion they are in, this time its Buddhists, sad thing is Buddha preached never to believe in miracles.
