and back to technology..........
Kaneva is a new social network that extends the concept of MySpace into a virtual world. Although you’ve been able to sign up for a 2D profile on Kaneva they recently opened the doors to their 3D world. The idea is that users can create personal profile pages in the 2D space, like MySpace, but also carry out the same personalization to their virtual world apartments.
A new online dictionary and thesaurus called WordSource is being developed. It’s main benefit over sites like Dictionary.com is the fact that the site is very cleanly designed and contains no advertisements. You can also look up a word by simply adding it to the URL (so word.sc/example will pull up the definition of “example”). The site also has a number of social features, allowing users to upload photos that are relevant to the word, add tags, rate words, etc.

Intelligent bird
One day i got this idea of feeding the birds which comes to our back yard.Me and my wife started feeding some of them which comes near to the kitchen window.Within one or two weeks they got used to it and started hanging around the window making funny noises, this includes hovering in mid air near the window to show that they are there, or to see whether we were there. The number of birds grew dramatically, here are the latest statistics according to my wife, about 10 doves,4 large pigeons,2-4 Mynah birds and 2-4 Madagascar fodys. Some times if we are not at home they try to peek through the front glass door to confirm that we are not hiding ,and they have found an innovative way of leaving the message via bird droppings, honestly ,I think they do this purposely. They no longer fear us,some doves even come near to my wife and watch her cook.Barred ground dove is a lovely bird. Its easy to spot a male birds dancing around a female bird during the mating season, quite impressive dances i would like to say, includes heads bows, tail flappings and many cool moves. One day my wife found a birds nest lying on the ground. She brought it home, put it on the cupboard.Few weeks later When she returned home from town she found a young dove sitting on it enthusiastically.Intelligent bird, safe home with all the facilities including free food.

Swimming on Sunday
Me and my wife went to the beach on Sunday. The beach is called Takamaka beach. One part of the beach is covered by corals, dangerous to walk on it because there is a thorny creature which could sting your foot and make your life miserable for few days.I did one snorkeling session but was very careful not to put my foot on the corals. The sea was so blue with greenish reflections, beautiful and picture perfect. Some people dream their whole life to visit a place like this and here i'm spending two years in their dream.
Today was my health checkup day.The male nurse asked me if it's ok if he allows his trainee student to draw my blood ,it was her first attempt. For the first time in my life,i felt how a lab rat would feel like.Anyway, i made up my mind to give her a chance, she has to learn anyway.she did her job well, didn't feel anything.I congratulated her and came out quickly, close shave, when you consider how much you could get tortured by some trained nurses when they draw blood.

Party
Yesterday i went to a friends birthday party. It was planned to celebrate near the port. This is what i saw there. The color of the sea is always dependent on the color of the sky. There are few thing in this world that you can enjoy any number of times, sea is one of the best.
Then after coming home i watched this movie called "illusionist" a superb movie that will stick your eye to the TV the whole time, with an unpredictable twist at the last minute. Its about a magician, thought of learning few magic tricks after watching the movie.

When you are old
I really admire this Zen story, There are few versions of this story but I like this one more because it touches my heart.
There was this man who practiced Zen all his life, he was old. So his son took care of him & his farm, but when the time passed his son started to consider his father as a burden.” I work hard every day to feed this man who’s no use to me” son thought. One day son was so depressed about his situation; he decides to get rid of his father. He went to town and bought a coffin .After carrying it home, he ordered his father to get in to the coffin, and father obeys the order quietly. Sons closed the lid of the coffin and drag it to a hill to throw him in to the river. At the top of the hill son hears a gentle tapping on the coffin. He opens the lid and exclaims “what now, old man?” And father says “Son, if you want to throw me to the river do so, but this is a fine coffin keep it for you children”.

Get A Second Life-Its getting better
when i heard about this world few months ago i was impressed and was determined to try it out even though i had a very slow internet connection. The first time i logged into the world ,i was teleported to an island and had no idea of how to control my character. Finally i learned how to walk and talk to people,so i walked towards nice looking lady and said "Hello" and she replied "How are you nude man",which made me search frantically through the controls of how to dress my character,i had no idea that i was nude all the time, glad it was virtual .

Home sweet home
I found this beautifully crafted birds nest hanging on a small tree in my back yard few weeks ago, wondering what type of birds live in a cozy home like this,i inserted my finger gently in to the nest,I could find few eggs in side(i only felt). Then i heard angry voice of a small bird, probably saying all sorts of nasty things about me in what ever language they spoke ("They speak Bird i guess?"),anyway, i got the message and walked away from the nest.It was a Seychelles Sunbird. They can live fairly easily with invasive species like rats & cats because of their hanging nest.
I really wanted to take a picture after the eggs hatched but i was too late, they have already left, not too far though, they still come to suck nectar from flowers in the garden.Today i managed to take a picture of the adult bird, not a very beautiful bird but has a beautiful voice. Its amazing how nature provides everybody some special thing, as for me its big EARS.

risk takers
hey, if you happen to travel in sea by a catamaran or a sail boat, if the sea is rough and if you don't want to throw your breakfast, lunch etc...back on to your lap, follow my advice don't stay inside the boat sitting like my wife did when we were traveling to another island by a sail boat.I was lucky enough to stay out side the ship watching the scenery ,never stay in an enclosed environment while traveling in a boat and try to keep your eyes on the horizon it reduce the sea sickness.
If you really want to enjoy stay in front of the boat (where both sides of the boat joins together, what do you call that place ,keel?),if the sea is rough you can enjoy a real roller coaster ride. When the boat falls from one wave crest to the bottom of another wave you start to feel butterflies in your stomach.Do this if you are willing to take the risk of toppling over the railing and crashing with a huge boat before you drawn to death.I'm serious folks, this is for the risk takers only.

Lords Of War? & Lightning
Yesterday i watched a good movie called Lords Of War(Nicolas Cage),which is based on a true story.I learn few facts about arms business in this world and how western super powers exploit third world countries in Africa and Asia.I live in a third world country(Sri Lanka )and we are cursed with 25 years of war with LTTE terrorists (70,000 dead).Recently our army has destroyed many ships which were carrying loads of weapons to LTTE,Now i know how they get those weapons. Its amazing to know that those countries which claims to be the guardians of Democracy & freedom are the once who manufacture most of the worlds weapons(USA,UK,Norway).I checked some stats about Norway,Norway is the world's biggest arms exporter in relation to its population, currently they are acting as our peace brokers with LTTE.There is an ancient Roman saying "Who will guard the guards?",there is nobody to watch over them.

Once freed slaves lived here
This place is called san souice (pronounced like Sun sussy),a place where freed slaves used to live, you can still find ruins of the old town. It was raining, thick fog was every where avoiding us from seeing this breath taking view, within an instance mist cleared and i took this shot, It was still raining though. Good place to come, relax take your time to rediscover yourself.A good location for a freed slave to live too.

Have You Seen Some One Murdered?
I was going to the school that day,i always take the school bus.We used to sing ,Everybody was in a very good mood that morning,Suddenly ,the bus stooped right in the middle of the road, every body became quiet, i looked out of the window, what i saw made me shiver. There were 11 men shot dead near the main road.Their hands were tied behind and they were blindfolded.Blood was seeping through the holes in their heads, parts of the brains were out scattered among the bodies (they were sort of pink). It was a hillside road ,blood of the eleven bodies was flowing downhill making a miniature stream.I looked at the bodies, all of them were twisted with pain.I could see the agony and fear frozen in their faces. My heart beat began to rise, deaths of those who were shot in the chest were not easy as the others, their struggles to stand up was clearly been seen. They haven't stopped the fight to live until the last second, for their loved ones perhaps. It was an exhibition of fear and sorrow. There were some people watching in a distance, some of them had come there to see if any of their missing sons or relatives were there.I felt the fear and pain they had in my heart,I wished the same fate for those who did this brutal murders.
