Cactus

Its a rare incident to sea a cactus flower because they bloom in the night.I saw this flower in front of my apartment. The exact scientific reason i don't know, but it could be to attract specific type of insects.

What we cant see

I read this article few months ago about dark energy and dark matter, according to the scientists when we observe a galaxy using any instrument we can only see 10% of its matter,90% of its matter & energy we can't observe.Scientists found its existence only by gravitational fluctuations.Dark matter do not emit or reflect enough electromagnetic radiation to be detected directly, but whose presence can be inferred from gravitational effects on visible matter. What if there are intelligent life made of dark matter?we will not know they are there.

Mobles & Driving dangerous research reveals

US researchers have discovered a likely reason why people find it hard to do two things at once.

A "bottleneck" occurs in the brain when people attempt to carry out two simultaneous tasks, the research shows. The study found the brain slows down when attempting a second task less than 300 milliseconds after the first. The findings, published in Neuron, support the case for a complete ban on the use of mobile phones when driving, the team said.

Participants were asked to press an appropriate computer key in response to one of eight different sounds and call out a syllable in response to eight different images. The researchers from Vanderbilt University used functional MRI scans to detect changes in oxygenated blood in the brain - a way of monitoring the activity in different brain regions. They found that the lateral frontal and prefrontal cortex, and also the superior frontal cortex, were unable to process two tasks at once, leading to a bottleneck.

Talking on mobile phones when driving was also dangerous, they said because motorists are bombarded with visual information and might also be talking to passengers.

"Our new research offers neurological evidence that the brain cannot effectively do two things at once. People think if they are using a headset with their cell phone while driving they are safe, but they're not because they are still doing two cognitively demanding tasks at once," said co-author, Dr Rene Marois.

One More Zen story

I got lots of email s requesting more Zen stories......here is one more story that i could gather, enjoy.I hope to post more interesting stories in the future.

Not Dead Yet

The Emperor asked Master Gudo, "What happens to a man of enlightenment after death?""How should I know?" replied Gudo."Because you are a master," answered the Emperor."Yes sir," said Gudo, "but not a dead one."

Zen-Budhhist Stories

I really like Zen Buddhist stories, they are so simple that anyone can understand the philosophical meaning behind them.Hope to post few more stories later............

No More Questions

Upon meeting a Zen master at a social event, a psychiatrist decided to ask him a question that had been on his mind. "Exactly how do you help people?" he inquired.
"I get them where they can't ask any more questions," the Master answered.

Concentration

After winning several archery contests, the young and rather boastful champion challenged a Zen master who was renowned for his skill as an archer. The young man demonstrated remarkable technical proficiency when he hit a distant bull's eye on his first try, and then split that arrow with his second shot. "There," he said to the old man, "see if you can match that!" Undisturbed, the master did not draw his bow, but rather motioned for the young archer to follow him up the mountain. Curious about the old fellow's intentions, the champion followed him high into the mountain until they reached a deep chasm spanned by a rather flimsy and shaky log. Calmly stepping out onto the middle of the unsteady and certainly perilous bridge, the old master picked a far away tree as a target, drew his bow, and fired a clean, direct hit. "Now it is your turn," he said as he gracefully stepped back onto the safe ground. Staring with terror into the seemingly bottomless and beckoning abyss, the young man could not force himself to step out onto the log, no less shoot at a target. "You have much skill with your bow," the master said, sensing his challenger's predicament, "but you have little skill with the mind that lets loose the shot."

Butterfly

The great Taoist master Chuang Tzu once dreamt that he was a butterfly fluttering here and there. In the dream he had no awareness of his individuality as a person. He was only a butterfly. Suddenly, he awoke and found himself laying there, a person once again. But then he thought to himself, "Was I before a man who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being a man?"

Google bomb

Google bomb

A Google bomb (also referred to as a 'link bomb') is Internet slang for a certain kind of attempt to influence the ranking of a given page in results returned by the Google search engine, often with humorous or political intentions.[1] Because of the way that Google's algorithm works, a page will be ranked higher if the sites that link to that page use consistent anchor text. A Google bomb is created if a large number of sites link to the page in this manner. Google bomb is used both as a verb and a noun. The phrase "Google bombing" was introduced to the New Oxford American Dictionary in May 2005.[2] Google bombing is closely related to spamdexing, the practice of deliberately modifying HTML pages to increase the chance of their being placed close to the beginning of search engine results, or to influence the category to which the page is assigned in a misleading or dishonest manner.

The most recent Google bomb is when you search for "miserable failure" in Google most web pages give up results related to Georoge W Bush.Google announced that they manipulated their algorithm to lessen their effects.

Chips push through nano-barrier

BBC NEWS | | Chips push through nano-barrier:

"Chips push through nano-barrier 45 nanometre test wafer New materials have had to be developed to shrink the transistors The next milestone in the relentless pursuit of smaller, higher performance microchips has been unveiled.

Chip-maker Intel has announced that it will start manufacturing processors using transistors just 45 nanometres (billionths of a metre) wide.Shrinking the basic building blocks of microchips will make them faster and more efficient.

Computer giant IBM has also signalled its intention to start production of chips using the tiny components.'Big Blue', which developed the transistor technology with partners Toshiba, Sony and AMD, intends to incorporate them into its chips in 2008.Intel said it would start commercial fabrication of processors at three factories later this year.

Critical leaks

The development means the fundamental 'law' that underpins the development of all microchips, known as Moore's Law, remains intact. The proposition, articulated by Intel co-founder Gordon Moore in 1965, states that the number of transistors on a chip could double every 24 months. After more than 10 years of effort, we now have a way forward Tze-chiang Chen, IBM The new Intel processors, codenamed Penryn, will pack more than four hundred million transistors into a chip ha"

Black Parrot

In Seychelles(Thats where i live now) there is this island called Praslin (pronounced pra le),which is home to a unique creatures called black parrot.Only difference from a normal parrot is that they are black in color. They are found only in that island in the whole world.I manage to capture one of them in my camera,i was lucky ,its not easy to see them.Government takes lots of measures to protect this unique species but i think they should be introduced to other islands as a precautionary measure.

Got Fried UP By Police?

I read this article about US army developing a non-lethal heat ray gun which could make you feel that your cloths are on fire, pretty cool ,it can in crease your skin temperature up to 50 degrees in no time. What if they developed it to fry some one completely,i mean they must have done it by now, its logical. If they can increase up to 50 why not 100?if you want more information click here
